Earth Day: Vernal Pool Nature & Flower Walk

Join fellow AWWEE members for a special Earth Day event!

Let’s all gather to network and stroll among vernal pools, experiencing this unique landscape which is home to rare plants and animals. If we timed it right, the site will also be blooming with carpets of wildflowers!

Our morning will start at 10:00 a.m. at the Burke Ranch Conservation Bank just outside Vacaville. The Conservation Bank is operated by our host for this event, Westervelt Ecological Services.

To allow time for everyone to arrive, we’ll gather in a Eucalyptus grove for water, coffee, scones, fruit, and a bit of mingling before we set out.

After that, we will embark on a guided walk through the vernal pools! An ecologist from Westervelt Ecological Services will lead the group, sharing knowledge about the local flora and fauna and answering vernal pool questions. We will have a few hand lenses for those curious to take an up-close-and-personal view of the wildflowers.

Please note that although the terrain is open and flat, it is uneven and slightly sloped in certain areas.

Registration

Space is limited for this special event. Registration is open for active AWWEE members only. If we have space when we get closer to event, we may allow registered attendees to bring a guest.
